چکیده
Unreinforced masonry walls are prone to failure when subjected out-of-plane loading. This is due their low performance in bending, and often the lack of appropriate connection returning floors. paper investigates possibility use oriented strand boards (OSB) panels improve brick walls. The proposed technique considers securing OSB type-3 behind with chemical mechanical connections. work presents finite element models predict behaviour. have been calibrated validated through a three-phase experimental campaign, aimed at (a) characterizing main structural components, (b) studying behaviour small-scale prisms (c) 1115 × 215 mm developed based on micromodel ABAQUS demonstrated adequately capture both plain retrofitted ultimate load. also show an excellent correlation compressive damage tensile pattern. Generally, model predicted peak load corresponding toughness within less than 10% average test results.

Retrofitting Masonry Walls with Carbon Mesh
Static-cyclic shear load tests and tensile tests on retrofitted masonry walls were conducted at UAS Fribourg for an evaluation of the newly developed retrofitting system, the S&P ARMO-System. This retrofitting system consists of a composite of carbon mesh embedded in a specially adapted high quality spray mortar. It can be applied with established construction techniques using traditional const...

4 FRP strengthening systems for infill masonry walls are typically designed to resist flexural stresses due to out-of5 plane pressure. Previous research has shown that there are potential premature failure mechanisms due to shear 6 sliding of the infill, which could reduce the effectiveness of the strengthening system. Current design guidelines for 7 strengthening of masonry walls with fiber-re...
متن کاملLimit states of modern unreinforced clay brick masonry walls subjected to in-plane loading
Recent research showed that the in-plane horizontal displacement capacity of unreinforced masonry (URM) walls depends on numerous factors that are not yet captured by current empirical drift capacity models; e.g., axial stress, shear span, geometry of the walls and the material used. In order to improve the performance-based assessment of URM wall buildings, future research should aim at develo...
متن کاملA homogenization approach for the limit analysis of out-of-plane loaded masonry walls
This paper addresses the usage of a simplified homogenization technique for the analysis of masonry subjected to out-of-plane loading. The anisotropic failure surface, based on the definition of a polynomial representation of the stress tensor components in a finite number of sub-domains, is combined with finite element triangular elements employed for the upper and lower bound limit analyses. ...

This paper presents numerical modeling technique for Dhajji-Dewari structures (timber-braced rubble stone masonry), and its application for the evaluation of in-plane force-deformation capacity of Dhajji wall panels of different configuration of bracings. Dhajji structures are mainly composed of vertical and horizontal timber posts and braced using diagonal bracings and horizontal studs. Wall o...
